The Student Activities Commission is the portion of Student Senate given the responsibility of funding student organization programming. The Student Activities Commission (abbreviated SAC) operates a quarterly funding schedule, under the Six Mandatory Steps to Funding, as listed in Chapter 26.21(a) of the Student Senate Rules. These steps are also listed on the front of the funding application, more popularly known as the SAC PAC. The schedule generally runs as follows:
Mandatory Workshops, Week 2-3
SAC PACs due, Week 4
Interviews and Audits, Week 5
Funding Decision, Week 8
Appeals, Week 10
To learn more about this process, and other funding services offered by SAC, I suggest going to a workshop. They are mandatory if you are applying for funding, and they are informational about the SAC process for everyone, even if you are not sure if your organization will be applying for funding. (Remember, no workshop, no interview, no funding!)
We take the job of funding student organization programs very seriously, and are doing all that we can to make sure that programs still happen in light of the current budget situation. We appreciate all the hard work and dedication that student organizations show to our university every day they are in existence, especially in terms of programming and reaching out to students.
That being said, if you have any questions for SAC—about what we do, the funding process, etc.—feel free to get in contact with us. The SAC office is located within the Student Senate office in Baker 305b. Office hours for all the executives and your elected At-Larges are posted on our door. You can also check out our new website at www.ohio.edu/sac, or send us an e-mail at sac@ohio.edu.
