As a commission we are responsible for assisting black students on campus who have grievances with the university; serving as a liaison with office, departments, committees and organizations involved with the concerns of black students; gathering and publicizing information of importance to black students and black organizations; working in collaboration with the City and County and State and Federal Affairs Commission to inform students of relevant legislation pending or passed on the local, state and federal levels; and promoting cultural awareness and increase multicultural programs available to the student population.
Some of our plans for this year include (but are not limited to): Strengthening OUr Sisters, collaborating with other organizations for programming events and initiatives, a womens' history month event with Women's Affairs and a week of events celebrating black history. Aside from all this, we want you to know that we are here to help you all feel 100% satisfied with your experience on campus. Should something happen that concerns you, something that you would want to see changed or maybe even something new you would like to see on campus, tell us and we would be more than happy to work with you to make it happen. Feel free to stop in the senate office (Baker 305) anytime with questions, comments, concerns, and suggestions.
