As a commission, we serve as a representative of student opinion on academic matters to the faculty and administration; promote an educational environment that is conducive to the interest of students; address academic grievances; and review as well as recommended academic policies and procedures.
Each respected college at Ohio University has a Senator who represents the various colleges around campus. Whether in the College of Arts and Science, Business, Education, or Communications your college is represented within Student Senate by an individual that wants to get to know you.  For this coming year the Academic Affairs Commission is looking further into our current Academic Advising Policy, the potential of an Online Syllabi Database, and the upcoming Quarters to Semesters transition.
In years past, it has come to the attention of our commission as well as students around campus that our academic advising is less than acceptable. We want to hear your ideas and solutions to this problem. Throughout the year we plan on conducting a number of surveys and studies as to what can be done and then putting those solutions into practice.
In regards to every fall, winter, and spring hundreds of professors pass out thousands of pieces of paper with a brief break down of their respected courses. As a commission we would like to see all this information compiled online. Not only will this cut down costs on paper and printing fees but will also give students the ability to “shop around” and check out the courses before they pick them up saving the hassle of adding and dropping.
In addition to these projects we will be working on a number of smaller projects and activities including but not limited to Pizza with the Provost, Letters to the Learning Communities, and the Q to S transition so stay tuned.
